After Sinus Lift
Because of the close relationship of the sinus, many times when a tooth is extracted, it will leave a communication between the mouth and the sinus. This was the situation in your case. Therefore it is important to follow these instructions.
- The day after surgery begin nasal saline spray as directed (use 1-2 cups per nostril, 2-3 times a day for 10-14 days).
- Take prescriptions as directed.
- Refrain from blowing your nose for two weeks.
- Try not to sneeze or cause pressure. If you need to sneeze, do so with your mouth open.
- Do not use a straw or smoke a pipe.
- Eat soft foods for several days – chewing on the opposite side as much as possible.
- It is not uncommon to have a slight amount of bleeding from the nose for several hours and perhaps 1 day post op.
- Do not rinse your mouth vigorously for several days.
